We Only Grow When We're Uncomfortable

We Only Grow When We're Uncomfortable

2020 has been a year of discomfort for all of us, and yet, it has also presented us with incredible opportunities for growth. It's true that we often seek comfort in our lives, but I've come to realize that the most profound growth happens when we embrace discomfort and make the best out of "what is" instead of resisting it. In my own 57 years of life, I've faced my share of dark and challenging times, and I can honestly say that I am better for it. It's during these moments that we have the chance to deepen our understanding and choose love over upset or unease, to empower ourselves instead of succumbing to victimhood.

As we look ahead to 2021, we cannot predict what it will bring, but chances are it won't be all smooth sailing. Instead of running away from discomfort and pinning our hopes on an unknown future, we can choose to use it to our advantage, to grow, deepen, and flourish. We need to remember that the future is always uncertain, and the past is beyond our control. Happiness eludes us when we are lost in the worries of the future or the regrets of the past. So, let us welcome discomfort in the present moment, for it is where true growth happens.

By simply taking a deep breath, staying present, accepting "what is," surrendering to the uncontrollable, quieting the racing thoughts in our minds, staying curious with an open heart, and connecting with our inner wisdom and the profound love that exists within us, we can grow and soar. Let us remember that the present moment is always the best place to be, even if it's uncomfortable. It's through these challenges that we can rise, evolve, and become the best version of ourselves.
